Chapter 2 — The Evil of False Doctrine Marxist-Leninist Communism Arms the Minds of Evil Men — A False Paradise, the Philosophy of Struggle, the Politics of Lies, and Spiritual Enslavement (1921– )

Focus:CORE ARGUMENT OF THIS CHAPTER. What this chapter calls “the evil of false doctrine” refers to how Marxist-Leninist Communism and the CCP’s party culture arm the minds and the language of evil men. Taking the false paradise of “utopia—communism” as a lofty ideal and violent killing as its means, it makes private appetite and savagery behave as if “possessed by an evil spirit”: it lures people into surrendering their real freedom and property with the promise of a communist paradise, abolishes doubt by invoking historical inevitability, manufactures enemies who may be persecuted and eliminated through class struggle, and, in the name of “the people, democracy, the rule of law, and stability,” carries out their opposite. False doctrine leads evil men to regard greed, deception, and violence no longer as crimes but to construe them as revolutionary mission, organizational loyalty, and historical justice; at the same time it remakes the language, memory, and conscience of ordinary people, so that victims can scarcely speak the truth and perpetrators are able to escape guilt.

SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATION BOUNDARY. This chapter studies the theoretical texts, propagandistic language, methods of indoctrination, and spiritual consequences of false doctrine. To criticize an idea is not to prohibit thought; one must distinguish the original theoretical text, the official interpretation, the actual policy, and the consequences for victims, and must show how a given notion grants license for deception, dispossession, violence, and dictatorship.
